anyone have experience with these headers?
#1
I need new exhaust manifolds and rather than buy the dorman replacements I wont to get some shorty headers. Before yall start bashing me for wanting shortys let me say that I already know long tube headers are where the power comes from and shortys are just expensive stock replacements. All that being said I want the look of headers without the cost of modifying the rest of the exhaust. Also, I am not looking for a power upgrade just something that looks good and last long.
OK, so I found these on flea bay and the price is right. any reason these would not be a good replacement for the stock manifolds?

PS: I have the ARP studs to install already....not dealing with broken studs anymore!

Shorty headers won't last as long as stock replacements. I am not sure why you think it would cost you anything to go with long tubes besides buying the headers and ypipe. I would say stock manifolds or longtubes. No reason to do anything else.

If you've already rusted through stock manifolds (don't know how else they need replaced) I'd go back stock but get them coated or coated headers/stainless headers. Those painted won't last long at all. Disregard comment if this isn't the problem.

they need replacing because some studs were broken, the manifoldleaked for a while, and now both sides are warped. So........with long tubes and a y pipe would I need to change anything else on the stock exhaust or are the long tubes and y pipe a bolt up option?

They bolt right up. I priced Doug Thorley's awhile back (early last year) from Black Bear Performance and it was under $600 for ceramic coated shipped. I've heard some guys using O2 extensions on some brands. Not sure which ones though. I think you'll have a tune with any headers though. Chime in tuners
