Anyone Ever Read a Westers Tune with LS1-Edit?
#1
I would really like to see what type of changes they make... Especially for the gas mileage.. Do they lower Timing? or Raise it...
I plan to change the Stoich Ratio from 14.7 to 15 and lower the Thermostat to a 172. I know with the leaner mixture the temps may go up.. The tstat should keep that to a minimum...
Any LS1-Edit Guys here?
By the way... I am not looking to rip off a Wester Tune.. Only get ideas for myself.. I would NEVER use a "canned tune"
In Fact I had a canned tune in my Vette... When I got my LS1-edit I immediately read the tune... It was a joke...
I changed it so drastically it did not matter. My tune rocked the car!!! I plan to do the same with my 2001 Tahoe...

Well I don't consider a tune from Wester's Garage or from Nelson Performance a "canned tune". When Allen tuned my truck he flashed it what his generic tune is... VERY close to what I needed. We logged it and added a tad of timing up top and added a bit of fuel...not enough to even register in the ***-dyno.
They only little power tune on the market is the HPP3, it's great for rev limits and shift points but not much else.
If you're so concerned about that, and you can tune yourself apparently...why even ask a question such as this?

Anyway, Trucks are new to me. I am used to programming a 2000 Vette. I just want to get some ideas as to what makes the Wester/Nelson tunes so special..

if you have edit and know how to tune with it then you should be able to learn your way around a truck.they are different. canned! not sure. i believe that they tune to variables from experience.they have stepped out and started tuning and kept tabs on feedback from different locations and different mods to be able to tweek it just right. no two trucks are the same by no means but with enough info and knowledge they can get it real darn close.i have had most programmers and have tried westers and nelsons.handhelds are for the not modded average person that is wanting a tiny bump in power. westers is a good tune for the one that wants good power and a descent tune.nelsons is for the person that wants there heart to stop when the mash the gas
that is my opinion. as for tuning with edit they are around the same but with different perimeters. good luck.
