Default Anyone ever make there own 3 inch exhaust ?

got an 03 sierra ex cab, thinking about using pacesetters, magnaflows, and no cats. Theres a universal X pipe in summits catalog, wondering if anyone has made a similar set up ? what did you use for hangers, and where did you dump the exhaust ? Any links ? thanks

are you doing dual 3"? if you are you might want to rethink it
i dont want to be a buzz kill but most have found unless you have alot of cubes or a large blower dual 3" is way too much.

the reason being how much is lost on the bottom end, dual 2.5 is pushing it but if you build up the motor it can pay off.

and without cats it will be real loud so i would dump behind the axle

I see your point 5.3 stock motor at this time, might be way to big, end up hurting power, Yes going dual, what pipe bends would I need from the headers to the x pipe ? this is where I am a little lost. Havent really took a look but whats the size of most aftermarket systems for our trucks ?

I built my own 3" single. LT's, ORY, Resonator, 4ft piping, Borla Xr1 dumped before the axle.
Use band clamps and for hangers you can buy a hanger that bolts to the frame and clamp it to the exhaust with a C-Clamp.

I have custom dual 3" with gutted cats and twin magnaflows out the rr. Its a little too loud for my liking, altho I must admit it does sound cool! I'll post up some pix later this week. I went rr outlets cause I hated the road scum that piled up behind the wheels. Honestly prob not worth the expense unless u go blown 408 IMO...do the LT's and 3" back with hi-flo cats...its really all ull need. R/

I havent on a truck, but on the supra we made our own 4" then when i went to a bigger turbo we made a 5" it was real easy on that car, just a 90* off the turbo then a 90* under the fram rail and straight pipe with borla muffler out the back.

I currently have a gibson cat back on the suburban, but have been looking into making my own from the headers to the gibson. on the suburban the exhaust is 2.5 inch but one side is flatned out like a pancake to fit threw the passanger frame rail.

I think you can do it...
