I was wondering if anybody has done this
I want to take it to the other side where my intake used to sit
the reson i want to do this is because the ATI air intake plan sucks in location
If i get rid of the computer from the stock location I'll have tonnes of room for a new intake setup right underneath the batterie
maybe i can get harness extension made up ?
Would there be any downsides with doing this ?
as long as i use the same guage wire it should be fine right ?
thanks for any input

Not sure, but i believe your computer has a lot of confg. that has to do with resistance. By changing the resistance it might change some of the accuracy of your sensors. Dont quote me on that. That is just my first thought.

I'm going to agree with 408 on this one but, I really can't say for sure either.
Try John at Speartech, if anyone could help you he could. A link to Speartechs website is at the top of the conversions forum.

Jim have you ran your truck lately? What's it running with the slicks on?
My damn intake keeps blowing off the TB. I have a good idea to fix it though. Sam

Well the guys at speartech said that they can't make me a harness to do the swap
I asked the question what if i cut all the wires and soldered them back together .
they said it wouldn't have an impact on any of the sensors with the extra length
So i think i have myself another weekend project
How many wires off hand do i have to cut and solder
I'm going to go with a numbering code with all the wires I have some 19 conductor cable with numbers on it to keep things straight and it's all in one case too we Call it socapex
Anybody have a helms manual to tell me how many wires i have to cut ?

The length won't really matter. You can get harness kits for street rods to put the pcm in the trunk. The last big pcm job I messed with was putting a 350 in my 99 S-10. It had around 120 or so wires running into it. Hope you love soldering.

I work on aviation electronics, so in my openion as long as you use soldier with a flux core, and heat shrink all of them you will have no problem. With good soldier connections it would take 1000 foot of 20 gage wire to add an extra ohm in a system, and 1 ohm still will not effect many systems. Just be sure to stagger the cuts and splices.(to aviod bulking and possible EMI)
Just my $0.02
