Another lost torque / header thread

he is great for bolt on email tunes which not many care how they run as long as they gained more then they had, but take a look at everyone that is fast and that will give you the answer

take it from me. get HPtuners now that you're slightly modified and grow your tuning skills with the mods to your truck. otherwise you'll end up like me and your first attempt at tuning is a 408 stroker with a ported aftermarket intake, aftermarket throttle body that needed modifying, heads, big(ish) cam, big(ish) converter, big(ish) exhaust and nitrous. luckily I had wheatley on my side to guide me through the tuning (he basically did it for me via e-mail lol).
I never got a full grasp on HP because I skipped the beginner steps and jumped straight in the deep end. I wish my first mod was buying HPtuners for my bone stock 5.3 truck.
now I run a carburetor and life is so much easier!

Justin tuned my truck, don't have a bad thing to say about him as a tuner or a person. However, I know my truck is not running right after my header install either so I am going to do it myself.
FWIW Justin told me that "a MAF based tune will compensate for the increased flow of the headers so no tune adjustments are required". He did "touch up" my tune after the install but when he told me no tuning was required I just said thank you and went on my way. HPT will be my next "mod".

I am not worried honestly what a select few have to think of me, my engine runs fine and does everything I need it to. Including moving up to ~11,000 lbs GCVW down the highway at 60-70 mph in overdrive before I even feel the need to drop a gear. I have had nearly ~8,500 lbs behind it running in 3rd gear at 65 mph @ 2,600 and had zero issues holding speed even on steep hills. Guess those small primary Tri-Ys are horrible and my old Vortec gutless LMAO!! I am done arguing with the self proclaimed header gurus on here. To the OP good luck getting your low end snap back without deep gears and a decent converter. Get the tuning squared away but I promise you will still not be completely satisfied and willbe doing a converter or gears or both in the future. By building additional low-midrange torque over stock, I pull off the line just fine despite the taller geared 4L80E having the equivalent of a 3.00 rear gear with a 4L60E in first gear and a 3.23 rear gear in 2nd. It is going to be a beast when the 4.56 geared 10.5" 14-bolt finally goes under it.
