I can only find 5.3 Threads about cams..

I have to replace a dead lifter in the 4.8 and I decided to just do a cam while I am in there.. I was just wondering whatever body else has done..

4.8L in a 2000 GMC
My Mods:
K&N FIPKII
Flowmaster 3" Pipe all the way back from Ypipe
Ls1 Electric Fans
TT3000 Stall
Built Tranny w/ Shift Kit and Aftermarket Servos
3.73 gear and Eaton Posi

im just trying to get an Idea..

I also plan on getting a Nelson Performance Tune..

I also have a 2000 Factory Ls1 Cam in my Garage, I think it would be a waste of time.. Am I right??

The 5.3 and 4.8s are exactly the same, other than the rods, piston, and maybe the crank but I'm not sure about the crank.

The 4.8s have a longer stroke than all the other motors(5.3, 5.7, 6.0)

Any cam for the other motors will work it just depends on HOW big you want to go.

I know they are the same when it comes to the basic block, I was meaning the fact that the 4.8 is a smaller motor.. I dont know what is best for the 4.8, I would hate to get a mild cam for a 5.3 and it be to much for the 4.8.. Get what I am saying??

yeah, but most 4.8s are fine with running a decent size cam.

I know of a 4.8 5-speed and he ran a TR220 cam and full bolt-ons and put down 330rwhp.
