Default Another 5.3 performance thread

New to PT.net... couldnt find alot of answers over at gmfullsize. Im about to drop more money into an already bottomless money pit. it's an 09 ccsb nnbs 6spd. Last spring my dod failed and i deleted it, put a comp 216/220 cam, and all the little things that go with it (pushrods and springs). First of the year i plan on dropping the hammer on it. I`ve considered turbo kits from KB and Trick but before i bite the bullet Im thinking about keeping it N/a. Im thinking a bigger cam like a tsp 228r, heads, intake manifold, stall, and gears. So i guess my question is (or are)
1. Best cam for a truck that weighs 5700lb on 33s. And the only thing i haul is ***, i have a cummins for towing.
2. best stall for that cam?
3. looking at a edlebrock pro flo xt, opinions?
4. best heads for my application?
5. any other thoughts, opinions, suggestions?

Im not worried so much about cost. financial aid is paying for it

What year truck, ccsb? rcsb? 5.3? all these are critical in helping ya along the way.

1) IF you plan on turbo..keep the cam you have.. if not the anything with a 224-228 range cam will be fine. Im not a fine of huge cams in trucks but to each their own.
2) Match the converter with the cam... i would say at least a 3000-3200 with any of the mentioned cams should be good.
3) leave your stock intake, especially if its a NNBS anything else would be overkill on a 5.3 and no boost... just be wasting your money....
4) Maybe some TFS 215's but they are expensive... PRC heads etc... ported 5.3 heads could boost your CR if you have a NNBS truck.
5) Gears, Gears, Gears...nothing helps a heavy truck more than some gears... what ratio.. i dont know what you are driving?

Is it an all out race toy, or do you dd it a lot? If you dd it a lot I would be conservative on the cam probably more 220 range. My 0.02...... these 5.3L motors really like/respond to smaller cam, and the 220 vs 228 for example is only worth 10ish extra hp at the cost of lowend performance. However, if you like to floor it all the time and don't care so much for dd then....

Go with the big **** 228/228 haha
Your truck already has great flowing heads and intake for stock, so yes cnc heads and aftermarket intake will give you more, but is it worth the $$$ verses building a 6.0, which I feel would have a much greater benefit from cnc heads and intake. One can only get so much out of a 5.3L N/a...... One can get a lot out of a 6.0 N/a.

I had a H/C/I L33 before my 6L and it worked well but nothing like my 6L.
the cam I ran was a 223-226 610-605 110+4, with a 3600 stall the truck moved well for a 5.3. I do however have 36" tires and 5.38 gears
