Default Alternator upgrades.

I was just wandering if i need any alternator ugrades on my truck because im getting ready to purchase some 05 e-fans for it. I dont have any aftermarket stereo equip or anthing else that draws a lot of power. Thanks.

Tim, I did the '05 E-fans and didn't upgrade the alternator...no problems yet...everything works awesome (so far)...when you turn on the a/c though yet can watch the voltage drop for a couple seconds, from 14 to down around 12.. I dont think you should have any probs, good luck!

do a search...someone on here figured out what to do about the voltage drop with the e fans not too long ago to where you dont notice it at all...

Mine has the 145 Amp alternator and still drops slightly.

since my conversion i used the Fbody alt which is actually smaller then the trucks. 102 amps compared to 105. i also have fans and stereo. my stereo has a compacitor but i never have charging issues

What ever you do don't buy an alt. from Alterstart Systems, Inc. out of Dallas TX,
I bought a 235 amp to replace my 145 amp because I am running 5 E-fans and a meth and intercooler pump. I would get a battery light and a my computer display would read "battery not charging" at WOT at about 80 to 90 mph. I called them up and he was very nasty saying I shouldn't be going that fast anyway. A coouple of days later it wouldn't charge all the time at idle. I called them up and told them I wanted a refund it doesn't work properly and its only been on my truck 3 days. He said the don't give refunds but if I send it back they will check it out and if faulty would exchange it. It just pissed me off that he would Bitch at me for my driving habit.
