Question Alternator Upgrade?

I have a 145 amp alternator that I am installing for my 05 fans.I have read that you should upgrade wire from alternator to the battery junction box to 4 AWG or better.Upon inspection of existing wire I noticed this wire is printed saying FUSIBLE LINK. That is a protective wire if something happens you don't melt down everything else.So I am wondering if what size wire or fusible link is stock on a 145 amp alternator?

I'd like to know this too...maybe someone has the part number for the hot lead to the alternator from a vehicle with a 145amp alt also.

(On another note, I installed mine with the wire from the 105 just to get it in...plan on upgrading that wire asap)

Dont worry about it just change it out to a bigger wire and you'll be ok. I am not going to say it is impossible but I have never seen an alternator dead short and blow the 14ga. fusible link. If you can 4ga. will work but if you can run0/0 you will be even better if you plan on adding a nice stereo system later.

I've ordered a 145amp alt to install also. I've read the posts about changing the battery cable. For what it is worth, GM Parts direct lists the same battery cables for both 105 and 145 amp alt.
