250A needs an external regulator is why it's so $$$.

What's your total plans?

The 250 is a dual rectifier set up, single package. Well right now the lights dim with the stocker 105A with my stereo. I put a overdrive pulley on and that fixed that. I will be installing LT1 fans and possibly an aftermarket airdam foglight set up. I am thinking about upgrading my stereo also from a JL8w7 to a 13w7. That alone would require a JL1000.1 and my highs would need a 300.4. So, just thinking that I don't want to have to worry about dimming of lights. I do compete now in Sound Quality so keeping the amps up is important.

Well and all in one setup is cool.

Yes I could hurt my charging system w/ a JL 300/4 and 500/1 (XR653s up front, Kappa plates in back, 12w3v2 sub) it'd notically dim the lights w/ a 1 farad cap and a Yellow Optima on the 105A unit. Also the e-fans would undercharge me at idle when they were on.

With the extra ~20a at idle from the OE 130A unit I can get my **** to dim if I really pound it but hardly see the need to. And I have full charge with the A/C on and the fans pulling full speed.

I'd skip the ASP pulley if you're concerned with the amperage at idle, it's only good for like 8-12rwhp anyway.

I lag my system too pulling 1000W of stereo power, PIAA driving lights, in-dash monitor, V1, and my air compressor. I have AAA though, so i'll wait till this alternator dies before I upgrade.

Enjoy!
Does this use the same bracket as the stock 105 amp? I have heard you have to buy a new bracket or fab one up, and also heard it bolts right in. Which is it?

can you get an alternator that puts out too much power? i would like to put a 130a on my truck but the only aftermarket things i run are electric fans, 3 cobalt series guages, nitrous kit wiring, and soon to be wideband setup. would the 130a overcharge?

Nope, thats what the voltage regulator is there for, its just more load on your engine for nothing if you arent using all that juice.

Are the factory wires large enough ot handle the additional amps?

The Delco 130A and 145A alternators will fit in the 105A alt bracket, but the larger ones have a slightly bigger frame. This will move the pulley out about 1/2", and you will probably need a belt that is 1/2" longer...
