Default all "X" pipes the same?

Is a cheap ebay universal X pipe gonna have the same effect as an $80 magnaflow X pipe? What is a good inexpensive X pipe and where to get it? One other question. I have true duals w/ 2 mufflers.....if I just do a Y w/ one muffler....will it be the same as just putting in an X pipe?

a y would therfore make you single exhaust....

all x pipes arent the same...the welds on the inside are what counts to ensure good flow

And the shape itself matters.

kinda what I figured. So in other words if I want a "functional" X pipe I may as well spring on the $80 Magnaflow verses the $40 ebay pipe. I know if I went w/ a Y it would go to a single exhaust but when I had these mufflers put on and the guy "hooked" me up w/ 3 pipes I can tell a loss in a bottom end.

I've got an old magnaflow xpipe I'll sell ya for $45 shipped. It doesn't look great(it's not stainless), but it is in perfect working shape

not sure how expensive you are talking about going but my buddy had an x-pipe system on his GT and he had a Dr. Gas x-pipe...

http://www.drgas.com/store/product.p...2&cat=1&page=1

sounding really good with long tubes, no cats and bullet mufflers

I've never seen a Magnaflow x pipe that wasn't stainless...is it sort of a gold color? If so it's SS

Yea it's goldish. It's about 3 years old so maybe that's why?
