Default All Pro's Needed.....

I currently have a 2003 z71 Chevy Avalanche 5.3L Motor, Loaded.

Mods to date:

Volant closed box intake.
JBA Cat4Ward Titanium Ceramic Headers.
Corsa Exhaust with 6.0L muffler.
HPP3

Currently getting in 2 days:
180 degree thermostat Hypertech
Predator programmer
Taylor Thundervolt 50's
*will be used for now...

I want to ask what can I do now to make 400 RWHP or a lil more.

I never dyno'd the truck, but people have said it roughly is 205-212 RWHP stock. This sucks because on other 5.3L GM motors it is alot higher.

What I am looking to do is make a sleeper, drivable everyday truck with stock idle or slightly, I mean a touch slightly higher idle, I dont want the truck to sound like a tractor or one of those muscle bound trucks.

Some people say build the motor up before doing a SC, which I want to go with a Magnacharger Radix.

Some people say do a 6.0L build up for the truck then SC it.

I prefer do a 5.3L and beef up the motor then SC.

My main peragotive is the 0-60. I want to be 5.0-5.5 seconds 0-60 or less, then take the quarter mile for what it becomes 13,14 whatever. The street light to street light is what I am looking for.

I dont want any issues with this truck, meaning problems so I want to do this right to maintain the ease of everyday drivability.

It has a 4 wheel drive system with 4.10 gears.
I will beef up the tranny and add a new torque converter.

Please help.

Thank you very much for your time and your help.

jonNY you have the same problem as my Tahoe"road hugging weight"lots of it.My suggestion is to leave it alone and enjoy it.That being said I'll list the mods I have on my Tahoe.Radix supercharger,ASM longtube headers,3"electric exhaust cutout,Flowmaster catback exhaust,UPD lid, homemade ramair,160 degree thermostat, dual Flex-a-lite electric fans, magnacore wires,Eaton posi, built transmission and a Yank 3000.I'm sure I've left something off,but the Tahoe is definately fast.It will absolutely destroy Mustang GTs and Lightnings and has been known outrun the occasional M-POWER BMW.The question is would I do it over again?Probably not.It can be done but it's a lot easier with a lighter truck. You decide

3"electric exhaust<- whats this?

do I really need a Eaton posi? what would the pro's and con's be?

flex-a-lite's fans...do I really need them? I heard they good, however, can be a problem when and if they get wet, not as durable as a stock fan from what I hear.

I really appreciate your response.

Don't forget my truck weighs 5800lbs without no one in it.

That's a 3" electric operated exhaust cutout. With 4wd you might get away with the G80 stock differential for a while, but you will break it eventally. The weight of the truck plus the 400hp combine to absolutely hammer the drivetrain.I've broken 3 transmissions and 2 differentials. The Tahoe turned 13.28 at 101mph at the track and that was before I added 3 more lbs of boost,SLP rockers and LS6 valvesprings,I told you I'd forgotten some mods.

thats the kinda power im looking for.
how much boost you running with the radix system?

rockers would be better then a cam?

also being that i would beef up the tranny changing my differential would also need to be done?

If you want to just run stop light to stop light then put in a big cam say 224/580 and a 3600 stall converter and run it in 4 low.

jonNY I'm running 91/2lb of boost on throttle tip in 10lb at 5500rpm and 11lb at 6000rpm.The Radix system makes boost instantly, unlike a centrifical supercharger which needs high revs. That's why it moves a heavy truck so well and also why it's so hard on the drivetrain.
