All the bolt ons, now what?

This is too hard to decide. That's a lot for a cam swap. I might buy the tool and try it myself if I go that direction. Then I could maybe rent it out to you guys on this board. So we all know LS1s are underrated and put down about 300hp bone stock. Has anyone dynoed an LQ9 and where is the peak hp? Where are you guys getting salvage engines? I checked one yard around here and a high mileage LS1 is almost 4000 dollars. What a joke!
But that spanking new LQ9 in the classifieds for 2k caught my eye. Oh yeah I got the Eaton but still on stock tranny. Thanks for any help.

As far as nitrous goes....not alot of tuning as long as the timing and fuel are at safe levels.....unless your talking about a huge shot or progressive etc...seems like alot of bang for the buck - $1k will get you a pretty nice setup and almost as much HP as you want - but if your not into it, your not into it.

well ask your sellf what you want to do???
you want something all motor were there is no maintenance but changing valve springs???
you want FI
you already said no N2O.
look at the basics then when you figure that out figure what you want.
for instance i wanted OK gas mileage so i did not go with a 400+ motor.
I already have an idea but tell me what kind of direction you want to go in them i will give my opinoin if it means any thing.

EDIT: do you want to tow, daily driver, race only.

If I had a single cab and a nice stall like you, I'd get the LS1 and put a TR 224/224-114LSA cam in that SOB. Then a custom dyno tune.
A guy that lives around here has an early 90's model Ext. Cab Chevy and he put a vette LS1 in his truck and ran 13.5ish on a stock stall. Now he has the Tr224 cam/heads/pulley/3.73s/Flowmasters/stock stall/dyno-tuning/etc. and he is killing modded lightnings and modded F-bodies.

I vote for the LQ9 and a TR 224 114 cam. That cam might be a little on the large side for a heavy truck, but you want Kick A$$ performance. You TT3000 will be getting a workout.
You've seen what blacksheep did with an LQ9 on motor. Mine runs mid 13s NA with in the extended cab AWD SS platform.
IMO, stay away from the supercharger, too expensive, and Waco gets hot as hell in the summer. I spent 4 years sweating away in Waco. I'm a full second+ faster in my SS than my old 5.3L Z71 (same weight) when it was running a whipple.

I have the Comp 216/220 .525/.532 114 lsa and 2003 LS6 springs getting ready to go in, w/the Infamous Nelson Performance edit tune. I would second the cam change and edit tune. I have heard many good things about the change even if it's just the edit tune. I'll have to take a look at that place in Waco and see what kind of deal I can get. I'll keep you posted on my results. Good luck it's a hard choice.

what do you shift the ss at? how high do you think the 5.3's 6.0's can wind up to while still having a reliable truck
