Default Airaid Air Intakes

Out of these three, which one to go with? From all the searches I've done it seems that the HP is gained through the aftermarket tube....but I just want to be sure.

Full tube and just the panel filter (stock box)

Full tube and cone filter

Stock tube, cone filter

Sorry but linking to non-sponsors isn't permitted. Intakes don't really add all too much HP, a good wide tube and element will work as well as a simple modded stock airbox imo.

So if the truck already has a hacked up stock airbox with a drop in filter then there really isn't any need for the tube?

I ran a modded box with the panel filter and the AirAide tube before doing a ram air setup. A big reason I liked that setup was that after I put in efans, I could go with an AirAide tube for a year that came with efans stock, which has a lot more room to make the 90 degree turn in front of the throttlebody, due to not having to clear the belt-driven fan shroud.

I gained 10rwhp on the dyno by simply opening the air filter lid on the stock intake setup. I probably could have gained 5-10 more rwhp with a good intake tube. The stock on has a bad restriction right before the TB. I'd go with a 4" tube and a cone filter setup.

same here, great fit unless you get the spacer that does nothing but make a cool noise. then you have to modify the fan shroud.

(i found that out the hard way)

id say either buy the airaid jr kit or buy the parts off intakehoses.com or siliconeintakes.com.then just buy a different filter.
