Default air tube

Does anyone know of any company selling just the air tube for the intake kit. If so, is it worth buying and then clamping a conical filter on the end? Seems like you could save money doing it this way. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Home Depot

None of the manufacturers that I know of sell them sepeartly. In fact if you break a K&N tube, they want it back in order to get another one.

when you go and buy a tube from Home Depot what do you look for? Drier ducting or is there something else they sell that is better than the factory tube (with the air baffles removed). I removed the baffles and sealed it up but still can't help to think the aftermarket tubes are way better and will do more positive stuff that the stocker. Anyway, I am a cheap bastard that would rather spend money on stuff i can't do like tuning and such.

JSmith,
What parts / where did you find the parts for your "homebrew" intake? That is one of the cleanest jobs I have seen yet. I know I am not the only person on here that would like to know.

I just can't bring myself to pay what the UPD is running. Don't get me wrong, the UPD is a sharp looking product and the performance is there from the dyno#'s I have seen. The price is a bit much right now for me since I have several projects going.

Thanks,
Stephen

I got everything from Air Flow Systems Inc. I used 4" aluminum intake tubing, 4" clamps, 4" 45deg hose, and a 4" 90deg hose. The aluminum tubing was then polished before I clamped the hoses on. I don't remember the total cost for everything but it was really cheap. It seems to work really well and has ALOT of volume. If you need more info just ask.

Thanks for the information. I am printing out all the pieces right now. I did the throttle body bypass today and did not realize how much space the silencer took up under the hood. The stock plumbing for the intake has gotta' go..... I would also take it that you have had no clearance problems with this setup?

Thanks again,
Stephen

Nope no clearance problems at all. The only thing I'm looking at changing now is the stock flex hose on the MAF and using some silicone hose.

I tried the above setup on my 2003 GMC 5.3 but it wouldn't fit because the fan shroud sticks out too far. The set up cost me $52, if anyone would like to have it let me know and I'll send it to you for $30
Thanks
