Default Air temp sensor

Just got back from the valley near Mission TX. Any way my cuz has a ford ext cab with a 4.6 and 9 pounds of boost. A few months ago I put about three trucks on him quickly and he never made up the gap. Well this time it was only about 1 truck. He said all he did different was move his air temp sensor(A.T.S.) in front of the charger instead of after it before the t.b.. He went into some spill of it advancing the timing because the air was colder there than after. Is this true? And where is our A.T.S. Would this be possible in our trucks??? By the way you know ford people always have an excuse. He couldn't hook-up to much power he said. Our AIT is located in the MAF. Really nothing we can do with it that will be any more effective than a colder T-stat.

i would really like to do just the oposite as he did, with the whipple set up it reads before the supercharger so the temps are not acurate and it may try and run too much timing. since i have lsiedit i would rather it read the actual IAT and let me adjust out some timing if they get to high, then i could add a little timing the rest of the time.

the problem your buddy may have is when it gets hot outside and he is under a heavy load he will probably have too much timing, the computer thinks it is only 100deg but the actual IAT may be closer to 200deg

You can cut the 2 wires at the MAF (don't remember the colors) and splice in a regular IAT sensor like the cars have then you can mount that wherever you want. I fooled around with that earlier in the summer and it made no difference I could see in timing, track numbers or any thing else. I finally soldered the wires back like they were and forgot about it. But then again that's my luck-what works for someone else rarely works for me.

The magnacharger kits do just that. Cut the MAF IAT sensor wires and route a new sensor to where the EGR hole is on the intake. It seems like a very well engineered kit, so I would bet they know what they are doing. You can view the 4.8,5.3, 6.0 install instruction on their website.
If your EGR is not moved in your supercharger kit, I would guess you could drill a hole in the intake tube from the charger discharge and put it in there.
