You don't buy a truck for gas mileage. Getting a custom tune (W4M, Nelson, dyno tune, etc...) will be your best bet on maximizing your gas mileage...

I had a gf who ate candy all day and drank diet coke.

Gas milage sucks, especially in a 4x4. If you want to play, you gotta pay. All that said, a better flow in and out of the engine, and tune to take advantage will get a few mpg better if you dont drive like i do.

I picked up 1+ mpg, on the freeway, when I installed the Airaid system. Also gain about 10 HP.

I also gained 1+ mpg, on the freeway, when I installed the PCMforless tune (I already use premium with the LQ-9). Some where around 25 HP gain. This is really the best mod for the money!

Yes you can. I have a Volant cold air intake system and gain 2mpg!! It was proven when I tested mine. They do save gas and adds 17hp and 20 lbs of TQ for a 6.0 anyway. The 5.3's will only get max 12hp from a cold air and maybe 1 or 2 mpg.

Most people don't gain mpg after a performance mod because they want to floor it all day long and then complain about why the truck is losing mpg. Common sense, must kick in at some point. CAI, free flowing exhaust, tune etc... can all lead to better gas mileage and hp at the same time!!!!!!!!
