I couldn;t agree more. With my last 2 trucks I've just modded the stock airbox, added a true-flow drop in, and replaced the stock tube with an AirAid MIT--just cause I was too lazy to build my own tube.

Even with the MIT my intake ran me about $125, and that still AT LEAST $100 bucks cheaper than the cheapest CAI on the market.

As far as modding the stock airbox, like truckmann said, just a big hole saw on the bottom, I even took it a step further. I had a dremel tool and noticed that the round opening on the aibox lid that leads out to the throttle body, had a lot of sharp and uneven edges. I took my dremel and ground away maybe about and 1/8" or more of the plastic around the opening and got rid of all the sharp edges and uneven areas and smoothed it out and sanded it. Did it make a difference????? probably not much, but every little bit counts IMO.

and if you ever want it back factory you can find Factory Air boxs for cheap all day long.. i have 2 of them.. haha
