Well drove the truck today and sounds like a wheel bearing is going bad.
Is this a common occurance? I dont' think my pads are going south as I have ~70K on the truck now and dont' tow jackshit.
Ideas on cost to fix this? I DO NOT work on breaks due to a few near death mishaps (I've gone 3, and got 2 left)...

I am pretty sure the wheel bearings on these trucks are sealed and you have to buy the whole assembly (not cheap).
I've never had one go out. I wouldn't buy new.....get it from a salvage yard from a brand new truck that just crashed...lol.

WTF?! Man just what I DON'T want to do is go toss away $300+ for some part like that. (I dunno if the part is $300, but it would not suprise me).
Looks like I'm gonna roll past a local place today and see what the scoop is...it sounds gross to me. It's pretty faint and not too audiable unless you listen well.
Always something...

Depending how bad it is. They sound like their howling or grinding. We had a couple come in and when you grab the wheel it felt like the lug nuts were loose but the hub(bearing) had that much play in it. The part you replace is where you bolt your wheels too. Which bolts to your spindle. 2WD truck hubs do cost a little more.

I could see the "bearing" I guess it was that was inside, it was rectangualar surrounded by like a track. Once stuff starts gettn messed in there it just takes everything out

Can anyone give me part numbers for the correct GM parts to fix this? I have a '01 2WD.
I guess this is as good a time as any...I'm re-hanging my sway bar, getting UCA's and a tranny mount/crossmember for the '80. Might as well do this at the same time.
