Question aftermarket MAF ?

i descreened my factory MAF a couple a moths ago and now it runs lean, so question is, if i get a custom tune will it fix that? also whats the deal with the aftermarket ones like the GMS and JET, do they make a diff?

I don't know about the first question but the second about the aftermarket MAF is a waste of money. it is not going to net you anything. they have actualloy tested it and it should again a 1hp and then also has showed losses. so it's not worth the money until it's really hoding you back. do electric fans if you want a good modd for the same money.

Tune can fix it up, sure. Probably want to gather enough
info for the tuner to know how much tweakage is needed
where. A tuner with a wideband and logging should be
able to figure it out for themself over a dyno pull or two
though.

Could you humor me and tell me the Delphi MAF P/N on your
truck, whether it's a 6.0 (presume so for ZL1?) or 5.3 or ???,
and whether your intake tract is straight or has bends in it?
There is some fog around whether descreening MAFs changes
mixture or not, and under what applications / circumstances.

The aftermarket MAFs are apparently hard to tune around, besides the OE one will support plenty of airflow. By the time you max it out, you'll be breaking parts left and right and deep into the low 11s in a truck... and you may as well go to Speed Density to eliminate the MAF restriction then.

The consensus is to just spend the money elsewhere on performance that will be noticable. Popping the screen on vehicles that came with them is not a good idea, it simply does nothing for performance and adversly effects you. You can try to tune it out but it's going to have problems...go ask 02denali...

Dont waste your money on a Granatelli. Spend that money on something else man. If need be, round up an OEM MAF. Get rid of the descreened crapper. Then get a good tune! Hook up with Allen @ Nelson Performance.
