Has anyone swapped to the 6.0 L Truck/01 Vette Cam in their 5.3?

You could probably pick one up for less than $100 from a Vette guy.

198/204
.500/.500
116 LSA

Might not sound manly, but it might generate the torque the heavier trucks need. C5 Vettes put out over 300 ft lbs at 2000 RPM.

if i add a ls6 cam to my 5.3, will it require some computer work. I have a hypertech reprogramer, but do i need something to change the fuel curve or other variables?

you may be able to get away with a MAF-Translator to adjust the rich/lean properties. Its about $180.

We run almost all of the cams in our F-body motors and use stock fuel/timing tuning. These LS1s seem to be pretty forgiving in that regard. Most of the custom tuning done to our PCMs are involved with drivability issues.

-raising idle rpm (neutral and in drive)
-raising shift points
-raising rpm limiter
-adjusting MAP sensor on bigger cams
-removing some common SES codes
-making our fans come on earlier (not applicable on trucks)
-deletion of rear O2 sensors (no need for sims)

Just some examples.
