Question Aftermarket 90-92mm Throttle Bodies on Truck Intake

Does anyone run a ported or larger TB on their truck intake? Do the aftermarket or factory four bolt DBW ones fit the L92 truck intake?
If so, what kind of gains do you see from this mod? I think the stock TB on my truck (08 Sierra Denali) is an 87mm, and after taking a look at the factory one, it appears that there's some room for improvement, so I'm curious.

I heard that Charlie Williams at RPM motorsports has run the LS2/LS7 90mm on the L92 Denali and gained .15-.20 seconds in the quarter. If you manually open the butterfly on a 6.2 truck and run you finger where the throttle body meets the manifold the truck throttle body leaves a 1 to 1.5 mm edge behind it meaning that the LS2 90 would open up some previously closed area. If you use the 90, be sure to tune in the correct throttle area conversion so it will behave at idle. This is one cell in the tune, a correct throttle area for the LS2 can be found on Holden Crazy, just look up a tune for a GTO or LS7 ZO6.

Thanks very much for this! I have a friend who has a stock LS7 TB, which is the same as the LS2, I think. I'm going to try to get that from him and see how that works.

report back if it is plug and play. the tuning isn't a problem I just wonder if you can just plug it in and it will work? wonder if it opens any faster than the truck TB.

Yes, the two throttle bodies LS2 and LS7 are the same part, and they do plug in directly to your harness and bolt up with the stock bolts and accept the same diameter intake tube. I have tried this on a Trailblazer SS and it ran without any tuning correction or an area correction but pulled at speed (maintained 1100 rpm cruising) stock idle returned when stopped. It needed to have the throttle area corrected. The TBSS throttle is the conventional truck throttle with the big blocks on each side of the lower section reducing area quite a bit. Our L92 throttle bodies are different, they don't have the blocks on the inside. Keep me posted how it works.

That would be nice. I won't be able to get dyno numbers, since I have the AWD and we don't have a AWD dyno down here. But, I'll take it to the track one afternoon and try a couple of back to back runs against the stock TB and report back what I find out.
