Default Adding a cam question

Would it make sense if i were to order and install a cam without installing Longtube headers? I've heard for a cam to really benefit you need LT's first. Is this true? Or will a cam work just as good without needing the LT's?

to get 100% of the benefit you would need lt's but if you didnt want to run LT's you could run a cam just fine as long as you get a reasonably sized cam.
overall LT's would help but they are not needed to run a cam

I ran a few months with stock exhaust and a TR220 112 lsa. It ran just fine with tuning, of course now with the longtubes it pulls even harder.
