Default AC cutting of on 99 5.3l

I have a 99 with a 5.3l and the AC has started to cut off. if i cut the ac off for a few minutes i can turn it back on and it will blow cold for a few minutes. I thought it was low on 134 so i went to add some. well it was in the normal range so i am clueless. any ideas?

i wish that was the problem. it seems like my compressor is cutting off. i can cut the ac off for a few minutes and then cut it back on and all is normal. i will check that out though!!!

i will say on my wifes 05 tahoe the ac blower quit. i found a resistor burned out. it was the one that send the power to the blower motor.

im not trying to jack your thread but my buddys does the same thing that you're describing. i dont think his is door related either. whats strange is that it wont be blowing cold when cruising down the highway but he can stomp the gas pedal and when the motor revs up, it cools off again for a little while and then blows warm.

I believe that there's a TSB in reference to the actuator door, I know I've heard of it before...not sure if it affects compressor operation though. You may have a bad pressure switch if the actuator isn't the problem.

xlcooplx, kinda sounds like your buddie's truck is low on refrigerant...

might try a pressure cycling switch........its located on the accumulator(the big silver oval thing on the passengers firewall) the old design switch has a brown colored rubberband around it and is known for failing....when your a/c kicks off try to jump the connector with a paperclip to see if the a/c kicks back on, or you can usually tap the switch and it will work as well.
also make sure the clutch fan is operating properly if still there.

I have an ac problem with my truck too... All of a sudden the drivers side blows all hot no matter what I do to the control, but the pass side will stay cold. Turn the truck off and back on and its fine again
