Default abs and brake light always on

I have a 2000 gmc sierra and my abs and brake light always comes on my dash. How do I get these lights to turn off. I know i don't have anything wrong with my brakes and my parking brake is not on when i drive so im wondering what the problem is. Any help

Check the big fuse under the hood.

You need a non-generic scanner to read the codes, your brake system could be performing flawlessly under normal operating conditions and there still could be a fault somewhere...

My truck does the same thing periodically. Means bad EBCM in most cases. If your e-brake is engaged then the brake light will flash, but the ABS light will only come on if you have a pretty severe problem.

It's the ABS module that needs to be changed or rebuilt, I had to have mine changed, brakes work fine but the ABS won't be right, I think I locked my brakes a few times before I fixed it.

There's a number of things it could be, you won't know until you pull a code. The EBCM is common, as is a corroded ground on the driver's side, as is wheel speed sensors backed out of their ports due to rust (which will usually give you premature abs activation but no MIL), also if you changed gears or tire size and didn't adjust the PCM the light can come on...
