JUST BOUGHT AN 08 A COUPLE OF HOURS AGO AND THIS IS WHAT IT CAME WITH?


ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IT CAME WITH THIS ONE


ON THE DRIVER SIDE IT CAME WITH THIS ONE


MY QUESTION IS WHY???

they are the exact same heads (casting wise)
they just have different #'s.

Yeah, some Corvette guys got mixed heads a couple of years ago and everyone was confused. The 243/799's are the same just different castings.

One's from Mexico (799) and the 243 is cast in Canada. The 243 is a more desireable head since the casting process used to make the head is better than the mexican variety. Same design head is true, however if you ever had a 799 and 243 next to eachother, sticking your fingers down the ports you can see the 243's are smoother. I think on tech and even in my LS1 book by Vizard the 243 head is worth about another 8-10 HP. Just take them off and get them ported so they flow the same

Are you sure those are different heads? I ask because all the heads I have only have the casting number in one spot. What I mean is that when I look at the front of the head on the passenger side I have a casting number (your head is a 243). When I look in the same spot on the driver side there is nothing. I have to look at the rear of the motor on the driver side to find the casting number.
I see from your pictures you are looking at the front on both sides.
