I am aware that the 99 ls1 base engines were about 15 hp weaker than that of the 00+ due to the cam. I was wondering if anyone knows what a 99 5.3 SCSB would run in the 1/4 and about by how much will a 00+ beat it. Also anyone dynoed a stock 99 5.3? How many RWH did it make? Is it worth installing a 00+ cam in a 99?

 

I dynod my bone stock 99 5.3 ECSB and it had 218 RWHP and 259 RWTQ. If you are going to install a cam go a little bigger than a stock 00+ cam, get an '02 LS6 Z06 cam or even something a little more aggressive, if you are gonna do the work might as well get all you can out of a cam swap. I am about install a Lunati B1 cam (221/221 .558/.558 114 LSA) Into my truck very soon.
