on the 99s you have to slightly push the e-brake pedal and then start the truck and the headlights wont come on. but you will have to look at the brake light in the cluster. 0n the 2000-2002 you can press the dome overide button 3 times and on the 03 up there is a position on the switch to turn the headlamps out.

Awesome, I'll try that. My abs and brake light are on all the time for some reason right now so shouldn't be a problem lol

Weird, on my buddies 99 the override button turns em off- i wonder if it was just a toss of the coin.

If the truck was originally built for use in Canada, it will not have the DRL override feature in the BCM. Check the sticker on the driver's door for a Maple Leaf, or call the dealer with the VIN.

Lots & lots of Canadian trucks imported to the US here in Alaska. The clusters and some of the HVAC control heads(read in celcius) get swapped for USA models when they get imported, so you might own one and not even know it. My 2001 Yukon is a Canadian import. The DRL's will not turn off.

My 99 didn't have the DRL/Headlight override...I over-rid it myself by wiring in a resistor at the BCM, I now have manual headlights. Best of my knowledge, the override trick didnt' begin until 2000, maybe late 99?
