I had to pay alittle more for mine, but it was cheaper than if I bought it at a junk yard.

I did a full flash of my 2000 PCM operating system to a 2001 with FlashScan and EFILive Commercial. The 512 kB PCM is the same piece of hardware from 1999 through 2002, I believe. However, in 1999 and 2000, the operating systems had a main and a backup VE table instead of a single Main VE table for the 2001 and after OS. One of the big advantages of the 2001 and later operating systems is that you can tune the Main VE table to run MAFless with better fidelity because it has twice as many cells as the back up VE table. The potential for adjusting the spark advance values in the high and low octane tables is the same for both types operating systems (before and after 2001). Beginning in 2003, the PCM's had 1024 kB of RAM installed. These are not backward compatable to the earlier years without a lot of modifications.
