Yes, the VSC turns the fans on and off. If you take the time to hook up the AC compressor to it, they will come on with the AC and will kick up a little in speed if they need to cool the truck too. That VSC makes them act kinda like factory. Check out www.flex-a-lite.com and look at their fan setup. It looks a bit cleaner I think, and is a lot slimmer. They are a little more pricey though. You can also see how the VSC works by checking it out. It is the same thing, you can just buy the VSC seperatly.
If the performance gains aren't enough to your liking, I think it was worth it alone to get rid of the roar that the clutch fan does. I hate that noise .. it makes it sound like a logging truck or something.
On my old Z71, I could feel the truck pep when the fan would cut off after I took off from a red light. I think it would be a lot more than a 6hp power robber.
