Do the 799 and 243 heads have the same size combustion chamber also?

Edit: Further research shows they do in fact have the same size combustion chambers too.

I have a question.......maybe a dumb one...... has anyone put the 2.00" valves in the 706/862 heads then put them BACK on a 5.3? are there cylinder wall clearance issues with doing this? I'm in the middle of researching possible outcomes of dealing with water in the oil, so some reworked heads may be in my near future. If I'm pulling heads, I may as well investigate the possibilities.

What kind of performance did you see with doing this? Did you change your cam at the same time? I'm thinking I MAY go with a LS6 cam but I'm up in the air as to do it now or do it later.

Local guy here says he can rework my heads for a shade under $400. I can rework them AND up the intakes to 2.00 for $550. My only hesitation has been clearance issues.

I dont think u can go wrong upgrading the valves. Clearance shouldnt be an issue as far as i know. Performance definitly improved alot.

you said you were running 2.02's, so I imagine you're running the 1.55 exhaust still?

Do you have a before/after from the track after the head swap?

Well i did everything in one shot. Heads cam 4l80e 4k stall 76mm turbo so i dont really know wat just the heads alone did. The member i bought them from went 11.8 1/4 mile on a 4.8 with these heads. I managed a 13.3 with low boost and a very safe tune but my tranny gave out never took 3rd gear on that pass.

im being told that you cant use any other heads on the 5.3 because all the other ls heads require a engine with at least a 4'' bore..like 6.0 and up..is this not true?
