8.1 Timing Chain from Comp
#1
As most of you know, Comp Cams sells the Vortec 8100 cams for us big block guys. They also sell new timing sets. Has anyone ordered/installed te timing gears/chain from Comp. I have a set on order, with my cam, but the other day I was chatting to a guy at Raylar and he says that if Comp Cams says they are making 8100 timing chain/gear set they are full of BS, since he claims no one makes an aftermarket cam gear/chain set for the 8.1 to work with stock EFI , factory (i guess he means with the trigger/sensor). I just dont know who to believe, since I don't know of comp doing something like that in the past, when they are sellin these parts as for the VORTEC 8100 motor. An answer would be appreciated asap so if raylar dude is right I can cancel thanks! I do not have time ATM to sit on hold for hours with Comp's tech line unfortunately.

I recently purchased a 8.1 comp cam and springs from Mike the owner of Yank Convertors. Evidently he did a ton of 8.1 trial and error and ended up with a super fast 2001 Chevy Express back then. He had two of the final cam profiles ground and I bought the spare. Anyways when I was talking to him about a month ago he asked what chain I was going to run. I have one custom produced by some other obscure 8.1 enthusiast machinest that I found on Ebay. Mines yet to be tried. But Mike says he's been working with somebody and he's about to release his. Call Mike Seinna at Yank for a chain set.
