Default 8.1 Crew track times, stockish.

I met up with the Houston area LS1Tech.com truck crew. I made 7 runs trying different launch techniques and stuff. I didn't make any changes from street trim or remove any wieght, in fact it wieghed in at a bridge buckling 7,180 lbs :eek race wieght. Best run with the crappy torque managment ruining my 60' times was a 16.551 @ 83.2. Doing the math for MPH indicates that's 323 HP at the wheels which is nice. The bad part was I never had a chance against anyone I ran. But it was fun just seeing what it would do. I broke something in the electronics, nothing major just a couple of communication codes. I wanted to remove the hypertech tuning and see what up but the problem prevented any reprogramming.

My mods are: Volant intake with home brew ram air, Hypertech programmer, and dual Flowmasters.

Some of the guys ran 12's on spray and cam, many 13's, 14's, and my mid 16 LOL.

My GF was all disapointed, our truck isn't fast anymore, those guys didn't impress me with their runs, it's too cold, you didn't tell me I couldn't ride along in the races, bla bla bla. I picked a race with another 2500HD crew on the way home and held him off so I feel a little better. Most fools on the street who pick races must run 17's+.

Here's a link to the pics, my truck is the BIG one.

7180lbs!!! Is that thing a 1 ton. What a pig...you need to put that thing on a diet. I don't know how you could make that thing competitive with the other trucks there. Lots of forced induction and maybe a little more forced induction. That things is just heavy!

Yeah that's mine, the front and rear bumpers are Ranch Hand, bull stout and plenty heavy. I also have some amps, under rear seat sub-woofers box, spray in bed liner, and a tool box. The truck is fully loaded also. Dual batterys, leather, big A/T tires etc.

You do the right thinks to that 8.1 it will run. I ran a bunch of 13.00 at the race weight of 7000lbs with my truck. I could of got it into the 12's with out weight reduction but the converter would start slipping. I dropped 300lbs out of it and got a 12.95 out of it.

Wow, 12.95@101. That thing must be really lacking in the top end department. Anyway, you must give those diesel guys hell. I bet they can't stand to see a big *** gasoline truck run that quick.

was going to install the bumpers on mine also and decided not to but still have the tool box nerf bars and a/t's but have the 305/50/20's for play because i cant get any traction on the 33" a/t's with the sts turbo.you should turbo that thing even just for more power and better gas mileage.unreal power for these big heavy *** trucks..i run a 14.95 at 94mph w/ mine with wasted spark plugs..it runs alot stronger then it ever has now since i installed new ones...

Your times are normal for a truck that big.My 02 8.1 crewcab 4x4 ran 16.7@82 mph bone stock. The 8.1 is a great tow motor for a gas engine, they just aren't very quick in the quarter.

The bottle ran out on top end generally it traps 105mph. Still not that hi but it runs a 1.7 60'. You have no idea how much the diesel guys hate it I had allot of arguments with them.
