Default 706 Heads

I read alot of mixed emotions on these heads, reason I ask there on my current bolt on build, I'm wondering if its worth the time and $ to build these heads, or to go ahead and buy a set. I've got the 212/218 low lift cam, so i wouldn't need a crazy head. Just better flow is what I'm after mainly.

Change the intake valve and do some mild porting and you'd be set..

Im actually going to run a set of 862's with the bigger stock 2.0 valves, light porting and milled down to 59cc on my ls1 if i ever get around to sending them off lol

There isn't anything wrong with them, it's the casting problems that steers most away from them. If they are castech castings they may be suspect to leaking and failure. Not all the castech were bad, just some of them. Other than that, like what Andrew said, "light porting" and better valves with a nice valve job will net you a good bump in power. I sent my 862s to WCCH to have them cncd.
