Default 6.0l Lq9

Hey guys kinda new to the forums but I've been browsing for a few months though. Well, I have a 2004 RCSB Chevrolet Regency Silverado with the 4.8L and 5 speed. A buddy of mine just bought a 2002 Lightning so I now have someone to compete against so I'm planning on building up a 6.0 LQ9. Like I said I'm new to the forums so I dont know too much about the 6.0 but I was wondering what vehicles the LQ9 actually comes in that way I can try and find one with low mileage in a wrecked vehicle from a local junk yard. If you guys have any suggestions that would help me out I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks guys.

LQ9 came in Cadillac Escalades and Silverado SS's. You can get the LQ4 6 liter from the regular Silverado's/etc too though and probably save some bucks as long as you're rebuilding it anyway. Only difference is the cam and pistons, otherwise they're pretty much the same. Early LQ4's came with iron heads though, so avoid those unless you get a good deal or plan on new heads anyway.

I've been searching for a motor on car-parts.com. What is the VIN for the LQ4 and the LQ9. Also, does anyone know what year of those vehicles that they came for the LQ4 and the LQ9. Thanks guys.

If you check the classifieds on this forum there's one for sale and at a decent price too.

02 and up, then you won't have to worry about the "longer" crank. They did start in 99 and up.

I have no idea if the LQ9's came out in 99.
