If you want a good torque curve like this.....

Get a radix/tvs and be done with it.
All the money you will spend on a cam, headers, whatever else will add up quick and not give you the power and ease of bolting on a blower.
And IF you can keep your foot out of it your mileage will not suffer too bad. I went from 12-14 to 11-13 maybe 10 if I'm having fun

Keep the truck manifold ,but, have it and the throttle body ported, 1 3/4 headers, high flow cats, good set of heads ( milled to get compression up to 10.5 -11 :1, AFR 210, TFS 215, or AI ported 243/799 are a few good ones). Keep the cam small to medium ,like they said probably not above low to mid 220's Duration @.050. Good truck converter 3000-3200. I have a friend with a Silverado SS 2wd. Stock bottom end ,afr 205's, comp XER 224/228 112 lsa .588 lift, dynatech headers with high fllow cats, magnaflow exhaust, vigilante 3000 10.5 inch converter, underdrive pulley, K&n CAI, 42lbs injectors. Stock manifold and t/b. Put down over 400lbs torque to the wheels @3000 rpm and peaked around 430 through stock 20 in wheels. The horsepower peak wasn't real impressive at 380 rwhp ,but, it is a beast on the street. He laid waste to another SS with L92 heads , manifold combo with custom spec big cam and off road exhaust. And when I say laid waste , I mean he put bus lengths on him from a dig and run out of site on the top end. Simple conservative combo that works. Don't go too big on the head runner size and keep the camshaft mild and you will be much happier with your truck. Low end torque is where it's at with heavy vehicles.

My 6.0L with the Isky 212/112 is pretty damn torquy in the low and mid, sounds decent too. With the turbo it looses a little snap before boost but not bad. I agree if you want any big amount of tq forced induction is the way to go. For 6.0L to throw around 6000lbs good you're going to need boost. A properly sized turbo would be my pick.

What this is actually affecting is (In a N/A engine) the ability of the engine to fully expel exhaust gases from the cylinder in the lower RPM range by using some of the intake charge to "purge" the cylinder at TDC. In a blower fed motor, higher positive pressures in the intake tract are bled off during this overlap period and affect the manifold "boost" pressure that your gauge reads.
In an N/A engine a lower LSA can, to a point, move the torque curve lower in the RPM range, but generally will also cause it to be more "peaky."

I'm running a stock converter right now, and it feels good. With some traction it would be a turd, but I'm surprised in how it feels..
