6.0 Motor Swap. AM I GETTING RIPPED OFF?
#1
I'm gonna do a motor swap for a 6.0. My 4.8 runs perfect, and I've never seen any trouble out of it. It does however have 90,000 miles on it. Do you think I could still get decent money for it? The guys at the place says they need my core before I can buy the 6.0l. But they want $1000 plus my core and I wanna make sure they're not ripping me off!

If you're getting a brand new crate 6L for $1000+ your 4.8 then I would say that's a good deal. I don't think the 4.8 would be worth very much, esp. with 90K miles on it.

core charge on a different engine :wtf:
thats not a core. a core is there when you buy re-built stuff so they can keep rebuilding them.
You have core charges on transmissions so that they can just send you a transmission and you send yours back as opposed to you send it them, wait 2 weeks for it to built and then they ship it back.

For $1000 you could pick up a 6L block and get your choice of forged rods/pistons to build a nice Nitrous short block.
I would sell the 4.8 if possible and then shop for a better 6L.

Bought my 03 Lq4 with 12k mi for 1250.00 and no core charge. Check area yards for deals or www.car-part.com, good deals in this area on 6.0s, thinking of another for a spare.
