Default 6.0 Head Q???'s

i just bought a 6.0(lq4) out of a 2001. what is the compression ratio of this motor and would it be better to put a set of 241 casting heads on it?

CR is 9.4:1 stock, 241 heads and .041" gaskets will get you closer to 10.3:1 (see my sig)

The stock 317 (6.0 aluminum) heads flow REALLY well, the flow numbers will drop with the 241's but given that the port volume drops as well torque will rise compared to the stock heads (valve sizes are the same between the two - 2.00"/1.55")

you could always run a 243 head which flows the same but smaller CC and nets you a full point in SCR

I don't have a dyno sheet after my mods but given my 0-60 times and 1/4 miles passes (G-tech Pro) I'm guessing around ~425fwhp (340rwhp)

Like other said...the 243 heads are a better flowing head but are more expensive, harder to find, and the increase in CR might be more than you'll want to run (10.5:1 with stock gaskets, 10:6:1 with .041" gaskets)

Assuming everything else stays the same you're probably looking at a ~25hp gain due to the increase in compression, I wish I could give you a better guess but I did my heads/cam/headers/tune at the same time

Put your cam and them 241 heads on that 6.0L and a shot of gas and your going to be flyin. You can sell Brandon your 5.7L
