6.0 CAM IN A 4.8!
#1
Will a 6.0, 5.3, or even a LS1 cam work in a 4.8 If so what kind of horsepower gains would I be looking at?

I dont know what the springs are, but I guess I need to find out because I can either get a 6.0 or LS1 cam for 30 bucks!

Shouldn't be any problem. The heads on the 4.8 and 5.3 are the same. You may loose some low end with that cam. If your going through all this trouble, put in a 5.3 crank and rods. Then you will have a 5.3.

Didn't the newer F-body go with the truck cam when they made the switch to the LS6 intake? I know the 5.3s got the 6.0 cam in 2000. Did the 6.0 cam get larger or change then? You better find out what year cam and the exact specs before you spend your hard earned $30. Even for $30, it isn't worth it if its the same cam you already have.

in 2000 both the 4.8 and 5.3 got the 6.0 cam. so it would be pointless to get that one. i am pretty sure they havent change the 6.0 cam yet in 2002. i would go with a cam that produces torque since 4.8's basically have little torque.
