Any properly ported head should work well. The idea is to shove as much air into the cylinder as possible. By Porting the heads you reduce the flow restrictions improving the efficiency of the air flow.

With a ported head you will make more power with a lower boost level.

You might want to call them and discuss your options. They have some suggestions or possible options that are not not listed.

Some Head builders have other tricks they use like additional porting of the exhaust side to help get the heat out of the cylinder from forced induction.

I have never used PRC heads so I don't know they offer.

Good idea! I will call them first thing on Monday and see what they have.

My budget is 2k or less for heads. Since I already have springs I don't need them loaded.

Anyone else have a good budget head suggestion?
Not looking for factory castings.

I used PRC on my old 5.3 boosted application, the PRC heads really woke up the top end

Good that's something I'm really looking for in the new motor!

So got all the parts back from the machine shop and plan to build the short block next week.

I bought the book in the picture written by Joseph Potak and it seems very complete as far as steps go. Are there any other good guides I should get? This is my first engine build.

Finaly got time to assemble the short block. Followed the steps in the book exactly and everything went together great. My only hiccup was using a cheapo ring compressor and I bent an oil scraper ring. No big deal ordered a better compressor and new set of rings and it's all together now.

The Checkered Flag Performance one is hands down better. It is bore specific and makes the job much easier. I paid under $30 for it on Amazon and will be purchasing more if I need a different bore size. I wouldn't even consider the adjustable one an option anymore.

don't fear the mild compression. ported my blower manifold & did ported 243s on my LS1 with a blended 2.02/1.60 valve job. can't remember the gasket thickness, but i believe it worked out to somewhere around 10.4 or 10.6 CR.
10psi before the OD balancer netted about 650whp last i heard (should be picking it up this weekend... knock on wood) & should still feel great out of boost around town.
even stock LS2 & LS3s with blowers are about 11:1 - all on aluminum blocks... granted we ain't pulling trailers or rolling mudders though.

I'm running 243's and love them, power is mild in mid range, it's a DD, and wild up top. I thought about an upgrade but with a blower, head selection isn't that important. I was told to spend the money elsewhere...

Well I have some PRC 220cc cnc ported heads on the way. With ls9 gaskets and a 64cc combustion chamber I should be around 10-1cr. ARP2000 studs, ls9 gaskets, LS7 lifters and the heads should all be here this week.

With a 2.6 pulley on the tvs1900 10%OD crank pulley and the 6.0 with heads and cam. Do you guys think DW 60lb injectors and a walbro450 will be enough on 93? Any HP guesses?
