Default 6.0 block ?

can anyone explain the physical differnces between an alum. car block and a 6.0 truck block?
Anyone putting serious power into a 6.0 with aftermarket crank/rods/pistons?
What is the safe rpm limit?
I'm a car guy considering the 6.0 for the cubes.
thanks for any input!

A 408" iron block is a popular swap right now, there are 10-20 of them around currently, most notable of which are Vince (555/520 in a C5), and Mike K (539/478 in a Z28). Many dynos can be found in the "Dynamometer Results & Comparisons" section. I see the search is down right now, search for "408" as soon as its back up, you'll get 100s of threads about this combo, many results, advice, and information.

Default about 70 lbs...

the difference is mostly mass, and some new bolt holes that gm has installed to use the different style knock sensors and such... I've read they are pretty similar otherwise and it would seem whatever you want to do to a iron block you could do to the other one, in my GMPP book they list the ls2 as having a bare block #12568950, I've heard a price around $1k, but don't know that as a fact, as compared to the iron which is avail for $600?? I'd think it was worth the $400 if thats right and youre puttin it in a car... Don't know if machine shop work would be any different or even necessary if its all new parts... I think at least 1 sponser is already building stroker alum blocks for $4k+...
