Default 6.0

Thinking of putting a 6.0 in my 04 silverado. What years can I use. I know 01-05 will work but what about later years. I would like at least a low mileage 05 but would like to get as late a model as I can.

lq4 were available all the way up to 07 and still had 24x crank reluctor.
also early ls2 6.0 had 24x so those wil work in ur 24x truck

There is a 58x-24x reluctor adapter out there if you decide to go newer. I had to get one for my 07 Ly6. Runs about $350 The longblock cost me $1900 which was less than at the time than I could find an lqx, l92 head, intake, fuel rail, injectors etc... and it already comes with the L92 heads.

If you look hard enough you can really find some deals on lq4 and lq9s at salvage yards.

Sounds good. I will probably just look around for a lq4 or lq9 to put in. Most of the ls2 are still too high.

I picked up a low mileage 03' LQ4 complete for 1100 At the local yard.

Try searching carpart.com for a 6.0 engine.

They have a longer crankshaft that will not work with a 4L60E trans. If you're using an 80E the block will work. The 99-00's are easily identified by their cast iron heads, as opposed to aluminum from 01+

Hows that converter box working out for you pasadenaman? Lingenfelter makes it correct? I've heard of some problems with them, curious if they've been updated and/or corrected.

I spoke with the owner of the shop doing my swap and they have not have seen any problems with the Lingenfelter, He says that he is meticulous on any electrical work he does. My converter has not been put to use yet. I still have the 5.3. I have to get a 60e built next week before mine dies.

Yes, you will just need to use the removable crank spacer that comes on the 01+ LQ4's...if you find an LQ9 you will need to purchase this spacer I believe, as the LQ9's were never mated to a 4L80E transmission, but they were mated to 4L65E's which do not use the spacer.
