What year of 6.0 was the bad year or is there a prefrence on wht year to buy

99 and 2000 6.0s had CI heads and a thicker crank flange.

Would it be best to use a 99 block with 2001 + heads

2001+ have aluminum heads.

in other words i would say yes to save the weight on the heads but that is just my opinion

The crank on the earlier motors is longer too and won't work with the 60e trans.

question?!?!.... how would a different crank cause it to not work with a 60e

The end of it's sticks out further. In 2001 I think it is, they used the same cranks, but added the crank spacer on the flex plate instead of the added material on the crank to take up the space the spacer does currently.

So a direct repalcement will be a 2001+ ?
What do you need to install a 99-2000?
