there are a lot of variables to consider. gears, stall, cam, N/A or FI. im sure that in highly modded vehicles like on here or what i drive. there is not going to be a difference in fuel consumption. my 06 2500hd has the 6.0 and gets 12 mpg. it doesnt matter if im towing 30k or empty(flowmaster,CAI,Bullydog). the silvy classic gets 17Hwy/ 5 or 6city.

cant really compare a 2500hd with a 4l80e trans to a 1500 truck with 4l60e when talking about fuel mileage....wayy different trucks.

I just got back from a 600 mile round trip after my cam/head swap and LT/Full exhaust/e-fan install. Still on my old 91 oct tune, (CAI, catback tune) I got 18.75 MPG on the way down (77-80MPH, 1 stop) and 19.91 on the way back (70-72MPH, 3 stops). This is in a Z71 5.3, 156k miles that was lucky to get 17.5 on the highway before. With the tune, and no stops, I bet I could get 20-20.5.

On a 6.0, with a similar setup, you'd probably be looking at 16-17 MPG... comes out to about 75 miles per tank. This is pure interstate though.
