Default 5.7l cam tuning question

If i put a decent size cam in my 96 silverado with the 5.7l will i be able to run it for a few weeks without a tune? that way i can save for the tune? or will it not run?

It should run, might not idle real well, but you should be able to drive it till you can get a tune for it.
