Default 5.7 LS1 and Whipple??

Just kicking around an idea.To broke to actually do it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> If you were to put in an LS1 engine, would a Whipple charger work??Bolt up??Just curious if it would be able mount up the same or if there would be a good bit of fabrication needed to do it.I know these engines really turn some good hp numbers with a centrifical charger....wonder how they would resond to a twin screw style like a Whipple??

I checked all of this stuff out last night. Yes it will work, but with minor modification to the LS1 water pump. There is a bracket that holds the SC that screws into the water pump in one location right next to the thermostat. On truck water pumps this is already drilled and tapped. It is not drilled and tapped on the LS1 pump, but there is casting there to do it - this would be an EASY task. Other than that, you would need the holes in the passenger head to mount the other bracket, and it is drilled and tapped on the LS1/6 heads already.

Oh yeah, you would have to run electric fans also for radiator hose clearance. The water neck on the LS1 exits the front of the pump, as the truck one is on top. Unless you modified the water neck, you would run into probs. with the hose hitting the belt or the clutch fan.

Just another idea: Magnacharger already has a roots kit that fits onto the 'Vette LS1. It would work in our trucks too. But, if you already have the Whipple, fabrications are one easy to drill bolt hole in the H2O pump and electric fans.

What would be involved converting the original Whipple two belt system to the new one belt system?

Anyone know where I can find pictures of the two different installations?

Any SC available for the trucks will bolt right up. You will not be able to run as much boost, so you would have to order a different pully.
