Default 5.3ho

I justed picked up a 05 Silverado K1500. Since it was a work truck, I assumed it probaly had the V6, but the dealer said it was a V8 despite not being able to locate it by vin in the computer. After checking out these forums I have found out what the B stands for. My questions is how limited are these engines? Are they still being put in vehicles? Is parts and maintenance any different? and why does this option not show up in the KBB or NADA books?

Thanks!

I assume you're referring to the L33?

I'm not sure if they are still in production....I think not. The parts that differ are the aluminum block, heads (799/243), pistons (flat+coated) and the cam (don't ask me for spec?) other than that they are pretty much the same as the LM7 iron block

They were available in 05', 06', and 07' classic's. They are alot more common than most know about. They don't get the credit they deserve. The L33 got more compression, better heads, bigger cam, and aluminum block. That is all keys to a better engine. Unfortunatly, they didn't advertise them though. With fairly minimal mods they can get you into the 14's (all were in extended cab 4x4's). I'd like to have one in my truck. If you're looking to go fast with a 5.3L, that's the one to pick.

That is good info. My dealer had no idea what is was....and the truck sure had some power (maybe I just never had a chevy before). I plan to add dual exhaust...what are some other mods for the engine?
