Default 5.3 vs Vortec 5.7

Went out to Rankin rd on Sat night;I got into a race with a rice burner we lined up I beat him about 8 or so lengths, then he wanted me to race his buddy which has a dark blue step side Vortec Truck 350-5.7.I told the guy no,then I thought about the disagreement over the 5.3 vs Vortec 5.7 so we lined up, he made it a point to tell me that he had a chip,exhaust,k/n,;So I made it a point to tell him my Truck was stock except for Ultimate PD Airinduction he just laughed.I thought surely with all his mods!and less weight he would out run me.So to all the Vortec 5.7,and the 5.3 guys heres your grudge match. The flagger drops his arms then we punched it we both take off heads up then I started to pull the vortech 5.7 about a Truck length then I hit second gear and held it to the floor as hard as possable.I crossed the line about 6 lengths ahead of the Vortec 5.7 we pull over to talk he asked me if I was on any of the GM sights I told him yes I gave him my name which he knew of I asked him what his name is{heres the kicker] he would not tell me. Know matter he knows who he is,He also knows that a 5.3 is faster than a Vortec 5.7.This post {IS NOT TO BASH} the Vortec 5.7 Trucks, only to show the difference between the two engines. If anyone knows which Vortec Truck this is tell him I'll give him a rematch, but if I win all I want is his name! The WidowMaker02

Bash them Just keep it tastful. This is an LS1 forum 99+. Our smallest is faster than their biggest.

Edit: On bashing pre 99 guys, remember they still have CHEVY's. Now ferds and dodge trucks are fair game. Just remember bashing posts are good candidates to be moved to the lounge.

I've got a 99 police package Hoe with 2wd, 3.08's, 4880 with w/o, bonestock. I have the L31-5.7 Liter.

I raced ZBass28 from a tollplaza. He has a 00 Silver reg cab, longbed, 4x4, 4810 w/o him.

He put about three on me to about 75mph.

To be honest, I think that I can find three tenths thru boltons... And that 3.08 really makes this truck soft off the line.

But stock he makes 285hp to my 255, but I make 330ftlbs of tq at 2800 rpms...

LOL! LT1 based motors in similar setup trucks will always be about a half-second slower than the 5.3L trucks. I never saw any GM fullsize trucks (base models at that!) running 15s stock until the 5.3L LS1 based motor came out. I remember seeing a bone stock '99 X-cab click off mid 15s when these trucks first came out and I was amazed.
