I have a 09 Silverado 5.3. It has a fairly loud ticking sound, sort of like what a direct injection engine sounds like except this engine isn't DI. Anyone else have a similar issue? Runs great otherwise.

 

lifters sticking/collapsed and or worn cam lobes....warranty left???? i would be running to the dealership asap!

 

Do you change the oil on the regular??

Prehaps warranty might take a look at it but they might just tell you it's normal or they will do a motor flush.

Personally I'd drain a small bit of oil and toss in a full quart of tranny fluid with the oil and drive it for a week or so. Tranny fluid will help clean the motor out and can help noisy lifter.

 

How many miles u got ?

 

50,000 miles. Does the 5.3 have an air pump on it?
