5.3 s10 buildup

I have a s10 with a 305 in it currently and am swapping a 5.3 lm7 from a 2002 suburban into it. My goal is to get 400 hp out of this thing. What would the best options be to reach this goal without costing an arm and a leg?

I hope you're kidding about the Tornado gadget you slip into your intake.
Remember fellas that when you guys say "full bolt ons", it's going into an S10 so he'll be lucky to squeeze in 1-1/2" shorty headers. However with that said, rycatmxz, welcome to the site! I too am stuffing a Gen III into my Sonoma so we're heading down the same yellow brick road...mine's just covered in mud.
400hp...that's just a number. Unless you made a goal with one of your buddies to put down 400 rear wheel horsepower on the dyno, forget the number completely. What do you want to do with this truck?

AS of now it is a daily driver. I want it to be eventually setup for the strip but after i do this swap i wont have much more money to put into it so I want it to be streetable truck that i can take to the track on weekends and make some good times.

Honestly, nothing but a good forced induction system. These newer motors will take 7psi and laugh at it wanting more. Key things to keep in mind would be a really efficient intercooler even though it's a rear mount, along with the proper fuel system. After a good tune you'll be set to go as long as you're not expecting the little S10 rear end to hold up.
